Passion – It Helps Keep You Healthy and Young

Passion: a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept.
I’m lucky. Outside of family, I have a number of passions in my life that give me a sense of fulfillment: my customers’ wellbeing through beauty and health, my art, and writing my books.
My younger sister, Francey, has a passion, too: her music. Francey took piano lessons when she was a child. She loved it, and played throughout her teenage years. But her life took a different turn in her twenties: marriage, children, businesses—she managed two of them at once—many other twists and turns for thirty years. There was no time for music.
One day, a few years ago, a friend asked Francey if she could play a Christmas Carol at an upcoming party as part of the planned festivities. Having not touched a piano for decades, she decided to try her hand at it again, dug out the sheet music and proceeded to learn and practice the piece. And then, behold, the passion switch flipped on. There was no turning back. She started practicing every day, so that, today, she is again an accomplished pianist. For a feeling of fullness and accomplishment, and to be healthy as we wade through Life’s travails, it’s important to become passionate about whatever it is you love.
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.
Are you bored with life? Then throw yourself into some work you believe in with all your heart, live for it, die for it, and you will find happiness that you had thought could never be yours.
If you feel like there’s something out there that you’re supposed to be doing, if you have a passion for it, then stop wishing and just do it.
