Oleda’s Health-Boosting Antioxidant Smoothie for Naturally Glowing Skin
Posted on January 17 2017
Another year and a new beginning! It is really a fresh start and the best time to begin incorporating new habits into your life. So go ahead, reinvent yourself. Be bold, be brave, be a better version of yourself!
That being said, not everyone can embark on a complete diet makeover from one day to the next. It often seems so daunting, and the thoughts of everything you will have to give up feels overwhelming and demoralizing to say the least.
However, you CAN change your life one healthy habit at a time. In fact, one simple change can have so many positive effects, and as soon as you start seeing results and feeling better, you’ll be on the right track to making even more changes. After all, every journey begins with a first step.
Here’s an easy smoothie recipe that is packed with free-radical fighting antioxidants and energy boosting nutrients to help start your day off on the right foot! If you’re brave enough, swap out your morning cup of coffee with this smoothie. You’ll be surprised to see how energetic you feel without a caffeine crash. Best of all, you’ll notice glowing skin after only a week!
You can also drink this smoothie as a meal replacement. However, I’d suggest adding a protein source if you plan to do this. As a general rule, smoothies subbing as a meal should contain about 30 g of protein, while those you sip as a snack should contain about 10 g. You don’t necessarily have to use whey, soy, hemp, or protein powder. I like to use hemp seeds instead, because in addition to protein, they’re high in iron, magnesium, and omega-3s. Bonus: These mild, slightly nutty seeds pair well with just about everything.
Give it a try and let me know how it works out for you!
- 2 Cups fresh Kale
- 1 Cup frozen Berries
- 1 Cup Almond milk (you can add more if it’s too thick)
- 1 Banana
- 1/4 Cup raw Almonds
- 1 Cup Ice
- 2 Tbsp. Hemp Seeds (optional)
Add all the ingredients into your blender and blend for 50-60 seconds or until smooth.
Tip: If you don’t have a high-powered blender (like a Vitamix or BlendTec) I would suggest to blend the kale and almonds first for about 30 seconds, then add in the other ingredients and blend again. This will result in the smoothest texture.
