ALOE VERA AND ITS BENEFITS
Benefits attributed to Aloe Vera taken internally
Aids digestion. Helps keep you regular. It helps decrease unfriendly bacteria and maintains a healthy balance of intestinal flora. It has been known to help people with irritable bowel syndrome and acid reflux.
Aloe contains many vitamins including A, C, E, folic acid, choline, B1, B2, B3 (niacin), and B6. It’s also one of the few plants that contain vitamin B12. Some of the 20 minerals found in Aloe Vera include calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, iron, potassium, copper, and manganese. Wow!
Aloe Vera is high in Amino Acids, which are the building blocks of protein. It’s estimated that Aloe contains about 20 amino acids, including all 8 of the essential ones.
Aloe alkalizes the body. Disease can’t manifest in an alkaline environment. Aloe is an alkaline forming food, so helps to maintain the 80/20 rule: 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acidic.
Aloe is an immune system enhancer. It has a high level of antioxidants that fight free radicals. It is also an antipyretic, which means it can help reduce or prevent fever.
Aloe Vera is a Disinfectant, Antibiotic, Anti-microbial, Germicidal, Anti-bacterial, Anti-septic, Anti-fungal. Now that’s something but, really, Aloe Vera’s active ingredients are sulphur, lupeol, salicylic acid, cinnamic acid, urea nitrogen and phenol which are substances that prevent the growth of disease-causing microorganisms and act as a team to provide antimicrobial activity thus eliminating many internal and external infections, also active against bacteria. It also helps to treat fungal and viral infections.
It doesn’t end there. Aloe Vera is well known for its healing properties on the skin when applied topically. It treats sunburn, burns of all kinds, and acne; it’s a fantastic moisturizer; in creams it fights aging skin by minimizing wrinkles; lessens the visibility of stretch marks; and it even soothes periodontal disease.
I have been taking Aloe Vera and using Aloe based creams and lotions for years. Studies, documented by grower and aloe expert, Odus Hennessee, author of the book, Aloe, Myth-Magic, have shown Aloe Vera to be a natural source of regenerative power and anti-aging properties containing so many vitamins and minerals that are vital for general good health.
So, picking up on the title of Mr. Hennessey’s book, I would say my experience indicates it is definitely not myth, it is, indeed, magic.
